Direct Flights from Tel Aviv to Johannesburg to be Cancelled by Israeli Airline

El Al to Cancel Tel Aviv-Johannesburg Flights Amid Tensions

Israeli airline El Al is reportedly planning to discontinue its direct flight service between Tel Aviv and Johannesburg, according to Israel’s Channel 12. The cancellation of El Al flights connecting these two cities will take effect from April 1.

This decision has been prompted by a decrease in customer demand, which is a consequence of the strained relations between Israel and South Africa. The tension escalated when South Africa presented a resolution at the International Court of Justice (ICJ), accusing Israel of committing genocide in Gaza.

The ICJ is expected to deliver a ruling today. The court will decide whether to issue an order instructing Israel to halt its operations in Gaza, along with implementing other “emergency measures”. This anticipated ruling underscores the international concern over the ongoing conflict in Gaza. The world awaits the court’s decision, hoping for a resolution that could potentially deescalate the situation.
