Eyal Zamir, the Director-General of Israel’s Defense Ministry, recently concluded a working visit to Washington. The purpose of his visit was to discuss the acquisition of new squadrons of high-end, US-manufactured fighter jets and attack helicopters, as well as additional munitions for the conflict in Gaza.
According to reports from Israeli media, Tel Aviv is planning to purchase a new squadron of 25 F35i stealth fighter jets, a squadron of 25 F-15IA fighter jets, and a squadron of 12 Apache helicopters.
Contrary to a report by Channel 12 claiming that a final deal has already been signed, The Times of Israel has refuted this, stating that while no final agreement has been reached, Israel is actively pushing for an expedited delivery of the arms.
During his visit, the senior Israeli official met with top officials from the Pentagon and the State Department, as well as executives from major US arms manufacturing companies. The discussions also covered the continued supply of US-made munitions for the Gaza conflict.
In addition to the aforementioned aircraft, Israel is also interested in acquiring two new squadrons of top-tier fighter jets, including a variant of the F15.
